Clementine Café
Aloha Bloggers! I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter and weekend.
Well, being from New York, it was too far for me to go home this weekend for Easter. Instead, I stayed at James Madison University (JMU) with some good friends to celebrate together. We didn’t have any spectacular events planned for Friday night, so we decided to go out for dinner and “chill-ax.” The four of us ended up at Clementine Café and it could not have been more perfect.
Clementine Café is the former location of both the historic Strand Theater and Main Street. The café is located in downtown Harrisonburg, VA next to Dave’s Downtown Taverna. It was recently renovated and redesigned and the owners, in my opinion, did an unbelievable job. Walking into the restaurant, I felt as though I had moseyed on in to a classy bar in New York City. Why, you may ask, am I plugging a restaurant on a web site that is dedicated to music? Well, my friends, the answer to that question is simple; if you want to hear a unique and artsy selection of music, then this is the place to go.
As we sat and ate our dinner, we watched a DJ doing his “thang” and rocking-out on stage, while playing indie-type music such as: Múm (who can be heard on the Clementine Café web site), Billie Holiday, Cat Power, Bonobo, Boards of Canada, and Gram Parsons, to name a few. Being four girls with a wide-ranging music selection, this type of music is not usually in our play-list, yet we could not have loved the vibe any more.
Here is a video of a song by Múm I thought you might like to check out. It is entitled “Green Grass of Tunnel.”
The Café will be hosting a number of events in the up-coming week. I highly recommend all of you readers out there check it out. Here is a list of shows for the next week or so:
Thursday, March 27, 2008: Alex Vans Quartet @ 5PM (This is a Private Event!)

Friday, April 4, 2008: Black Moth Super Rainbow (Headliner)
